Jacob H. Carruthers was one of six African Americans to integrate the University of Texas School of Law in 1950. He later taught at Northeastern Illinois University for 32 years and was the Director of the Kemetic Institute in Chicago. The papers of Matthew S. Davage contains sermons, addresses, reports, clippings, pamphlets, honors and a single letter from Dr. Benjamin E. Mays.
